EDUCATION BRINGS ABOUT OPPORTUNITY, AND IN TURN INSPIRATION

Aims & Objective

Jesuit Education is inspired by a vision of man drawn from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ who has always been respected and admired by the people of India. It is also based on the principles of CHARACTER formation elaborated by St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. The vision and these principles give Jesuit educational institutions a specific character and set before their staff and students high ideals of humanism and service towards which they are invited continually to strive.

We believe in a Christian Social ethic where justice is an absolute requirement of faith in God as our father and the acceptance of each other as brothers and sisters in His sight.

As Jesuit educators our strong concern and effort is to aid the development of the WHOLE PERSON so as to be fully human, fully Indian and truly modern. We want that our students are open to growth, intellectually competent, religious, loving and committed to faith and justice.

We pledge ourselves, therefore, to impart to the students of this school a sense of their own worth and dignity and a respect for the dignity and rights of others especially of those whose human rights and dignity are abused and in need of liberation and protection.

We pledge ourselves to develop in our students an inner directed sense of personal and corporate responsibility in community with others, the family, the society, the nation and the world. This will be expressed and exercised in the living out of their chosen careers and vocation.

The Jesuit school thus aims at making its own contribution towards a radical transformation of present-day social conditions so that the principles of social justice, equality of opportunity, genuine freedom and respect for religious and moral values enshrined in the Constitution of India may prevail and the possibility of living a fully human existence may be open to all.

More specifically we aim:

  1. To develop in the student an attitude of openness to growth in order to enable him/her to begin to take responsibility for his/her own growth.
  2. To prepare the student to be intellectually competent: to promote the development of intellectual skills, to develop understanding and mastery of the academic requirements necessary for advanced forms of education and for life
  3. To help the student become mature religiously: to help to know the major doctrines and practices of his/her own religion and to learn to examine critically his/her own religious feelings and beliefs.
  4. To help the student become a loving person: to assist him/her to establish his/her own identity and in his/her movement beyond self-centeredness towards more significant relationship with others.
  5. To foster in the student a commitment to doing justice: to help him/her develop as a person for others and to prepare him/her to take his/her place as a competent, concerned, and responsible member of society.
